Why can't I find a news report? Anyone? As in NEWS. Not opinion, supposition, analysis... just... news. Do you remember journalism 101? The definition of news? Remember?

Who. What. When. Where. Why.

Primaries.

How. How much. How often.

Secondaries.

Why and How are to be used with the utmost caution.

Stories that accomplish this are, indeed, news. Others. No, my dears. Not news. If you look at any news story and black out whatever does not fill these requirements, you will actually know what the news is. The rest is conjecture, rumor, and opinion. If you quote, or treat it as fact, you are standing on a foundation of mist. Best of luck defending it -- tho you can always follow in the footsteps of the nearest politician of any persuasion -- they make lives out of defending thin air as true.

My God I have become my grandfather. All I need now is a 'kids these days' spiel and a 'when I was your age we didn't HAVE' spiel. Oh -- and the firm idea that polyester liesure suits will indeed one day be back in fashion.
